Cherokee is looking for a Family Swim and Fitness Head Swim Team Coach who can design and improve programs/processes. Keeps the program focused on fun, wellness, teamwork, and a positive environment for the swimmers.

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Responsible for coaching of the Cherokee Swim Team. We are looking for a high-energy, motivated individual to safely lead our young swimmers of all ability levels in our competitive private club swim league. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness, the Head Swim Coach manages the swim team, assistant coaches, volunteers, and vendors. He or She provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for the swim team participants and coaching staff. Attends all swim meets, practices, meetings, and events throughout the season. Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe environment for members and participants.

Tasks/Skills

Responsible for scheduling and training of assistant and alumni coaches, working through the Family, Swim and Fitness Assistant Director.

Responsible for hands-on swimming skill development of all swim team participants.

Responsible for development, scheduling and conducting all aspects of swim team practices.

Responsible for coordinating various aspects of swim meets including, but not limited to, individual race participants, pre/post computer work, recording and posting of start times, and post-race ribbon distribution.

Attends and participates in swim team social events and swim coaches meetings.

Responsible for monitoring and adhering to the swim team budget. The Head Swim Coach will review the budget weekly with the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness.

Responsible for timely communication with swim team parents per the Communication Strategy plan.

Responsible for development of team spirit, using various motivational techniques.

The Head Swim Coach may give private lessons. During the swim team season, lessons are not to exceed 12 private lessons per week, nor to interfere with coaching responsibilities in general.

Performs other duties as required by the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness.

Required Qualifications

Experience as a Head Coach

Proficiency in the creation of Heat Sheets for Swim Meets

Experience with Hy-Tek software or similar software

Experience in coaching all ages of swimmers

Excellent knowledge of the sport of swimming

First Aid/ CPR/AED certification

Reports To: Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness

Supervises:Assistant Swim Coaches

Classification: Exempt Salary DOE
