Job Summary
Job Summary
- Coordinates and maintains a comprehensive NCAA Division I compliance program.
- Establishes, implements, monitors, and enforces policies and procedures that will enable the University, athletics department, student-athletes, and representatives of athletics interests to be in compliance with NCAA, Conference USA, and University regulations, as well as state and federal laws.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Educates all athletic staff members, student-athletes, representatives of athletics interests, and the community regarding NCAA and Conference USA rules and regulations.
- Provides interpretations of NCAA rules.
- Works closely with the Student Academic Enhancement Staff and Registrar to determine initial and continuing eligibility.
- Monitors all recruiting activities.
- Assists in the investigation and reporting of NCAA infractions.
- Tracks information related to amateurism, employment, and extra benefits.
- Reviews playing schedules and monitors practice schedules.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher.
- Preferably one to two years related experience and/or training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manages one Compliance Coordinator, one graduate assistant, and other volunteer workers as appropriate.
