Head Athletic Trainer

Job Summary

Job Duties:

• Act as a liaison between students and their families, physicians, the health center or other support staff, coaches, and school administration regarding the status and evaluation of injuries, treatments and clearance to participate in athletics
• Coordinate medical referrals to outside medical specialties, if needed
• Supervise additional training staff
• Serve as a positive and effective role model for student-athletes
• Coordinate medical care of student-athletes in collaboration with the health center
• Coordinate concussion testing program, procedures and protocols; follow up with health center, academic office, teachers, dorm parents and advisors regarding all concussion testing and levels
• Supervise the daily operation of the training room
• Maintain accurate documentation of injuries and treatments, in collaboration with the health center and consulting school physicians; have solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite, database management and injury management software systems
• Exhibit excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in athletic training, or a comparable degree in a health-related field, is required
• Master’s degree is preferred
• A minimum of five years’ experience in a college or secondary school setting is preferred
• Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in residential oversight
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
