Job Summary

 

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

  • Attends all Cheerleading practices as assigned by Cheer Coordinator.
  • Attends home football, volleyball, ad basketball games as assigned by Cheer Coordinator.
  • Assists Cheer Coordinator in coaching/teaching the Cheerleaders at practices and home games.
  • Attends game day operations meetings, staff meetings, and captain meetings as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 1 year collegiate cheerleading experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Performance and teaching abilities in elite, collegiate level coed and all-girl stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, and tumbling.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic advising and counseling techniques.
  • Knowledge and understanding of college student development and learning.
  • Knowledge of crowd involvement and safety measures.
  • Skill in planning and organizing.
  • Skill in communication, presentation and interpersonal techniques.
  • Ability to adhere to and support university spirit squad priorities, philosophy and guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Work is indoors and outdoors and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
