What You’ll Do The Player Insights Pro will be the voice of the player! . . . and will sit in the middle of the R&D team and play a critical role to drive new product creation. This individual will synthesize data from targeted player needs along with the marketplace, competitors, and past product launches to guide informed decision making to feed our future product pipeline. Specific duties may include: • Help identify opportunities to drive passion with golfers and the Wilson Brand • Follow and understand all relevant news in the world of golf such as but not limited to Players, Tours, competitors, facilities, teaching philosophies/technologies, and events. • Research, understand and evaluate new or existing key competitive products (balls, clubs, bags, accessories) and new components (shafts, grips, etc.) and communicate the pros/cons in the designs. • Build a large database of local, regional and global play testers. Conduct large and small scale player testing, analyze results and issue reports with the findings • Self identify small and large scale research projects to understand performance of golf equipment to drive our own customer understanding and new insights. Create and execute mini experiments for deeper understanding of player and or equipment performance • Communicate with the business team to provide data and or insight into the rationale for a multi-year product roadmap. • Research and understand the rules governing compliance for golf equipment as set forth by the USGA and R&D governing bodies. What We Are Looking For This role requires a four-year college degree in business, marketing, communications, economics or in a technical field such as computer science, analytics, or engineering. Commensurate playing or teaching experience may be considered. Additionally, five+ years experience using/understanding launch monitors (such as Trackman) and the data generated as it relates to player performance and equipment performance is needed. Other qualifications include: • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with players and internal business & technical teammates • Ability, skill and endurance to personally evaluate equipment on a daily basis • Ability to communicate complex methods, timelines and findings to a non-technical audience • Strong desire to understand the design and manufacturing of sports equipment perform • Ability to compare, evaluate and generate recommendations for improvements or next steps • Strong eye for examining the nuisance of shape and contour of complicated surfaces a big plus • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel is required. Ability to develop/deliver presentations in Powerpoint a plus • Significant travel expected to gather field insights from Tour events, player testing, store checks etc. • Demonstrated love for the game of golf and a low single digit handicap; college playing experience a big plus • Experience Fitting golfers for equipment needs a big plus What We’ll Provide The Wilson global headquarters is located in the vibrant, sports-centric city of Chicago with first-class access to a burgeoning creative, innovative, energetic and active professional community.
