Job Summary

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic, integrated marketing plans for Intercollegiate Athletics to enhance visibility, invigorate the brand, increase attendance, and build support for the department and the University, in collaboration with the Division of Marketing and Communications.
  • Strategically manage all aspects of social media for the department and oversee individual team social media accounts.
  • Maintain the department's website(s), manage web content, produces associated collateral/public relations materials and capture interesting and important stories to positively publicize our Intercollegiate Athletic Programs, student athletes and coaches.
  • Execute plans for special events and student-athlete community engagement/service activities to connect the athletic department to the campus and local communities.  Manage ticket sales for select events. Work with Department of Student Communications to promote Athletic Events.
  • Expand annual slate of athletic alumni events, assist with fundraising events and cultivate a client base of corporate partners with sponsorship revenue in collaboration with the Division of University Advancement.
  • Manage the athletics brand marks, in cooperation with University Communications and Marketing.
  • Oversee Sports Publicity Director and part time staff, Athletic Training Staff and Equipment room staff.
  • Serve as the sports administrator for Swimming/Diving and Track & Field programs.
  • Develop, execute and manage contracts in conformance with University procurement and legal contract requirements.
  • Use and maintain the software to provide necessary services and information to stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and cooperative working relationships with University administrators, faculty and staff, students and student organizations, government and private agencies and/or the public in order to accomplish the objectives and programs of the unit.
  • Maintain essential records and files.
  • Maintain integrity and appropriate confidentiality in University and program operations.
  • Attend and participate in departmental, conference and university-wide meetings; represent the department and engage in professional development related to duties and responsibilities.
  • Serve on departmental, university, conference, regional and national committees as requested.
  • Assist with game supervision as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree supplemented by a Master's degree in a field related to the area of assignment or equivalence as determined by the appointing authority. Years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements
  • A minimum of three years professional experience in an institution of higher education in a field that is directly related to the functions of the position to be filled or equivalent as determined by the appointing authority
  • An understanding of the philosophy of NCAA Division III athletics
  • Professional integrity and commitment to developing the positive potential of students, athletically, educationally, and personally
  • A competitive spirit and proven experience in building competitive programs
  • The ability to function effectively in a large, public, and highly diverse university environment
  • Strong leadership qualities, as well as the disposition to work effectively and enthusiastically with colleagues in support of the whole Intercollegiate Athletic program and the larger University
  • Strong management experience and skills, including personnel, budget and program management
  • The experience and aptitude to build external support for the Intercollegiate Athletics program including cultivating donors and alumni, generating regional and state-wide interest in and attendance at events, and engaging coaches and student athletes with the University's regional communities
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to enhance the University's visibility and reputation via the Intercollegiate Athletics program
  • Strong interpersonal skills and mentoring skills
  • Proven commitment to diversity, and the ability to create an environment that is respectful and welcoming to all and embraces a shared mission

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules as they pertain to Division III
  • Professional experience in NCAA level athletic administration
