Athletics Director

Job Summary

The Athletics Director will be expected to undertake the following responsibilities in collaboration with the HS Principal, MS Principal, ES Principal, Head of School and the Deputy Head of School for Learning:

• Provide principled, effective educational leadership within the Athletics Program 
• Develop, implement, coordinate and supervise policies and procedures to support  Athletics Program
• Employ excellent org
• anizational and managerial skills to motivate and help lead the athletic staff and coaches
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, parents, colleagues, and broader community
• Create an efficient, productive and caring atmosphere where all students and faculty have opportunities to be recognized for their best efforts
• Gather validating information that enables a proactive approach to problem solving and the determination of future initiatives

• Implement the Strategic Learning Plan
• Additional specific responsibilities will be assigned as needed by the Head of School and Divisional Principals

Specific Responsibilities to include:

• Appoint, Supervise and Evaluate coaching staff and athletic support staff
• Work collaboratively with the Aquatics Director to provide leadership within the Aquatics Program
• Work collaboratively with the Community and Arts Office (CAO) coordinator to provide leadership within the community activities programs
• Oversee all Athletic-Physical Education facilities (maintenance & enhancement)
• Manage content for the Jumbotrons to support games and spirit night
• Supervise Classified Staff (fields/facilities set-up)
• Liaison to Booster Club & PTA
• Represent the school by serving on IASAS Board and the BISAC Board.
• Responsible for oversight and organization of all local and international games, tournaments and exchanges
• Oversee transportation for all local & international travel for athletics students
• Organize and supervise hosting of visitors from out of the country for athletics events
• Responsible for School-wide Athletics facilities booking
• Advisor and mentor for the Varsity Council and other Sports Student Leadership groups
• Oversee budgets for Athletics and Aquatics
• Foster positive school-community relations by keeping community aware of and responsive to athletics programs
• Participate as a High School Leadership Team Member and representative on HS Deans Council
• Learn, interpret, and apply pertinent school policies, rules, & regulations, in good judgment in  a variety of situations
• Assist in the development of the master Calendar.
• Work collaboratively with appropriate personnel to ensure security and emergency response systems are maintained at the highest standards 

Preferred Qualities and Experience Sought 

• Strong academic background (Masters degree preferred)
• Certification or equivalent as a school administrator/athletics director prefered
• Experience as an Athletics Director/Assistant Athletic Director (at least 3 years)
• Demonstrated capacity to encourage excellence in managing Athletic programs
• The ability to engender trust in his or her leadership 
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication (listening, written and oral) skills
• Be student-centered, open, approachable, positive and supportive of school initiatives
• Demonstrate excellent analytical, decision-making, and planning skills
• Preferably have a diversity of overseas international school experience and demonstrated success in a multicultural school environment
• Ability to work collaboratively with school constituencies from diverse backgrounds
• Strong consensus building skills
