Job Summary

OPPORTUNITIES OF THE POSITION:

  1. Responsible for leading, instructing, developing and mentoring all the offensive linemen.
  2. Coordinate and work with the offensive coordinator to design and implement effective running game plan.
  3. Assist the special team's coordinator on the field and in meetings as assigned.
  4. Assist Head Coach in conducting the football program in compliance with all NCAA, State, Northwest Conference and Institutional rules and regulations.
  5. Assist in recruiting quality student-athletes in cooperation with football staff and Admissions Office.
  6. Assist in all areas of the football program as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletics Director.
  7. Develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, students and alumni while interacting favorably with department personnel and university community.
  8. Additional duties related to your role in the athletic department as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletics Director.

REQUIERMENTS OF THE POSITION:

  • A personal commitment to the Christian faith.
  • Experience and ability to effectively establish relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, physical limitations, sexual orientation, gender identity, class or religious perspectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, faculty, parents and students.
  • A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth University as a Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the church.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as the schedule dictates.
  • Compliance with campus vehicle policy. 

PREFERRED JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong oral and written communications skills and supervisory ability.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques associated with coaching football.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, coaches, Whitworth staff and faculty, print and electronic media, and members of the Spokane community.
  • Commitment to a high degree of integrity, and adherence to University, NCAA, and Northwest Conference rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate complex tasks and procedures.
  • Commitment to NCAA Division III rules.
  • Understanding of NCAA III philosophy.
  • Computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft 365
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive issues.
