Job Summary
The Program Coordinator is responsible for offering a wide variety of team, individual, and self-monitored sports, as well as special events each semester. Their primary role is to ensure that our students can engage in safe sporting events that meet their interests, are during their preferred times, and promote sportsmanship.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruitment, selection, and training of sport officials and program assistants
- Implements sport-specific trainings that include on-court/field sessions, classroom sessions, in-service meetings, workshops, extramural tournaments, conference attendance, and video breakdowns
- Provides leadership for student staff by providing continuing education to enhance skills that can be used in the classroom and are transferable to their desired career
- Provides game-site feedback throughout the week to officials and program assistants; uses this an opportunity to give real scenarios on ways to improve game management, call selection, participation satisfaction, and how to be successful employees
- Implements end of the semester evaluations that includes strengths, challenges, and a developmental plan for the upcoming semester
- Facilitates weekly supervisor meetings and provides opportunities for supervisors to train their peers
- Builds supervisory relationships; sets expectations and holds staff accountable yet is able to provide recognition when it is due
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Understand the importance of health and wellness and how to communicate its importance to our students, faculty, and staff.
- This candidate will be able to assess our students and successfully market and launch programs based on survey results.
- Lastly, a successful candidate will prepare our students to thrive personally and professionally and to be lifelong independent learners and responsible citizens who embrace diversity, support the common good, and contribute meaningfully to the changing world in which they live and work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and 1 year post bachelor's experience or 9 months graduate assistantship experience within recreational or collegiate athletic programming required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sports officiating experiences.
- Experience with outcomes assessment and analysis.
- Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required within 60 days of employment.
- All successful candidates will have the ability to assess student needs, value a high degree of student contact, interact effectively with a diverse population, have excellent interpersonal skills, communicate well in verbal and written form, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment
SALARY RANGE
- Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
