Overview

 

Great Parks of Hamilton County is currently accepting application for a Full Time Athletics Coordinator.  The Athletics Coordinator assists the Athletics Manager with maintaining, scheduling and operating Great Parks’ athletics complexes including Triple Creek snack bar.  This position works evenings, weekends and holidays, and is based at Triple Creek Park.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists the Athletics Manager in the daily operation of athletic facilities including:  Miami Whitewater Forest Soccer Complex; Triple Creek Softball Complex and Francis RecreAcres.  May be required to work fill-in shifts as directed.

Acts as primary contact for team representatives, league and tournament coordinators in the absence of the Athletics Manager.

Schedules practices, games, tournaments, and other events.  Tracks field use and invoices customers.

Represents Great Parks in a positive manner; provides general park information and answers inquiries as needed; receives and resolves guest concerns and complaints.

Determines playability of fields and cancels activities when fields are not suitable for play.

Assists with on-site management of events and tournaments. 

Carries out functional supervision responsibilities in accordance with Great Parks’ policies, applicable laws, and delegated authority.  Coordinates work assignments, trains employees and volunteers, provides guidance, resolves work issues, and ensures work complies with Great Parks’ policy and performance standards.

Performs various grounds maintenance tasks.  Drags and lines ball fields.  Operates a variety of grounds maintenance equipment to perform maintenance tasks.  Empties trash and cleans restrooms. 

Follows and enforces safety procedures to ensure safe operation of grounds equipment, tools and chemical applications, ensures athletic facility and equipment are properly maintained, cleaned, and inspected.

Accounts for daily cash transactions, collects and deposits program and event fees.  Complies with all cash handling policies and enforces cash control procedures including:  POS operation, daily deposits, shift/change tills, required logs and regular cash audits.

Purchases merchandise, equipment and supplies.  Submits inventory, invoices and purchase requests. Adheres to purchasing card procedures and submits expenditures for supervisor approval.

Ensures sanitary food preparation, storage practices and alcohol rules are consistently followed and enforced.

Works and communicates effectively with other departments, leadership, and peers.  Attends and participates in meetings, serves on committees and completes required training.

Performs job duties in accordance with Great Parks of Hamilton County’s policies, procedures, and performance expectations. 

Maintains confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information.

Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required. 

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilizes and promotes environmentally sustainable practices and processes.

Performs other job duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED

Fleet vehicles; paint machine; lawn mower, tractor, line trimmer, shovels and other gardening tools; computer; copier, fax machine, telephone and other general office equipment; point-of-sale system, grills, fryers, refrigeration units, ice machines, ovens and other standard kitchen appliances.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS

General public; food and liquor inspectors; vendors; GPHC employees and volunteers; sport officials; league, outing, and tournament representatives; delivery personnel; and other job contacts.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office working conditions. Frequently exposed to working conditions typical of an outdoor baseball or soccer complex, including exposure to cold, heat, rain, snow, sleet, ice, wind, dust, mud and other field and weather conditions.  Frequent exposure to general kitchen hazards.

USUAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee frequently exhibits normal vision demands.  Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision, with the ability to adjust focus when using a computer, POS, or tablet screen.

Employee regularly lifts or exerts force on items up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifts or exerts force on items in excess of 50 pounds.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of: Baseball, softball, and soccer; other sports for field use diversification and revenue growth; USSSA Rules and Regulations; field maintenance methods; equipment safety guidelines; food service operations and regulations; computer software (Microsoft Office applications); customer service; POS operation.

Ability to: Exhibit good problem solving and good judgement in keeping with the mission of the park district; maintain confidential and sensitive information; understand and demonstrate respect for cultural and socio-economic differences; support a working atmosphere consistent with Great Parks’ equal employment opportunity; embrace and support constructive change; consistently follow safety and security procedures and practices; contribute toward building a positive team working environment; establish and maintain an effective working relationship with associates, officials, general public, and other job contacts.

QUALIFICATIONS

An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  An example of an acceptable qualification is: 

High school diploma or GED and 1-3 years’ experience working in a recreation-related field.

Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.

LICENSE OF CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets GPHC current carrier guidelines. Certificate of successful completion of ServSafe Food and TiPs Alcohol programs within 1 year of employment.

The salary is negotiable based on experience. Typical starting pay rate for the position will be between $18.8093-$23.51/hour depending on experience, full pay range for the position is $18.8093-$28.2144/hour.
