Job Summary
Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the GM & Director of Soccer Operations, under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, and in coordination with the head coach and sports science staff, the Head Athletic Trainer (ATC) will manage the day-to-day sports medicine operations.
In this capacity, the Head ATC will provide injury prevention strategies, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and maintenance for the players medical needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Within the appropriate scope of practice definition, performs as Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the health care of players.
- Health care includes but is not limited to: first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals.
- Maintain a complete and up to date electronic medical record system within the appropriate system per league and organization guidelines.
- Order, maintain, and inventory supplies and clinical equipment.
- Keep athletic training room and clinic area safe, clean and organized.
- Provide medical assistance to the athletic training staff.
- Comply with all League medical policies and protocol.
- Comply with all OSHA Standards and regulations including blood borne pathogens.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
- 5+ years of field experience in sports medicine.
- NATABOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer In good standing with NATABOC.
- Licensed to practice in the State of Florida.
- Current professional CPR certification.
- Possess personal professional liability insurance.
- Able and willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
- Able and willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, and in non-traditional settings, within a team atmosphere.
- Must have the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, players, etc.
- Guided by strong moral and ethical principles.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in health-related field preferred.
- Medical experience within soccer or professional sports preferred.
- Knowledge of the sport of soccer.
- Pursues lifelong development and learning.
- Communicates in a direct, open and honest manner.
- Accountable for actions/decisions and does not make excuses.
- Seeks feedback.
- Practices self-assessment and self-reflection.
