Head Basketball Coach

Job Summary

Qualifications include:

• Significant experience coaching competitive basketball. 
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred and collegiate basketball experience is a plus.
• Successful candidates will effectively teach skills and strategies and will create positive team culture while embracing the unique role of athletics in an independent school setting. 
• Strong organizational skills and experience in effectively managing relationships with athletes, coaches, and parents will help the candidate succeed.
• Qualified candidates will also possess curiosity, strong communication skills, commitment to ongoing professional development, openness to others’ ideas, eagerness to extend themselves for others, and a sense of humor.
• Above all else, the coach will support and reflect the school’s mission and values and will embrace the school’s motto, “Toward the Building of Character.”

Details:

• Varsity practices occur on weekdays from 3:30 - 5:30.
• In addition, it is helpful if the varsity coach supports the middle school program, which practices from 2:00 - 3:20 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• There are approximately 18 games on weekday afternoons and Saturdays throughout the season, and some contests include traveling up to 2 hours.
• A candidate who has a license to drive students in a school van is a plus.
• Compensation is in the form of a stipend during the season only.
