Athletics Certification Officer

Job Summary

Position Summary:

• Under direction of the Assistant Registrar, the Athletic Certification Officer collaborates with the College Athletics, admissions offices, Academic Advisors, and a broad set of campus stakeholders to certify student-athletes for NCAA competition.
• This position requires an in-depth understanding and knowledge of academic standards and progress expectations along with Academic Senate policies.
• Additional knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations, set forth in Bylaws 14 and 10, and Big West Conference bylaws is required.

Required:

• Knowledge of NCAA Division I and Big West Conference regulations as they apply to academic and athletic eligibility.
• Experience determining student-athlete's academic and athletic eligibility for intercollegiate sports participation under NCAA Division I and Big West Conference Bylaws.
• Experience analyzing, interpreting, and applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in a higher education environment.
• Analytical and math skills to perform mathematical calculations pertaining to a student-athlete's academic standing and athletic eligibility.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to present information effectively.
• Ability to assemble and organize material into logical, effective, clear, and concise formats.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with attention to accuracy and detail.
• Ability to work independently and follow-through on assignments.
• Ability to work as part of a team and establish rapport with students, faculty, and staff.
• Bachelor's degree or higher and five or more years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
