Job Summary



GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Organizes, prepares, and conducts individual and team practices, training and competition

  • Recruits student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations through scouting, attending meets, and home visits
  • Represents sports program to various institutional entities and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents, and the public

  • Manages all aspects of the daily operation and coordinates all administration facets of the Swimming Program and its facility through planning, coordination, scheduling, and evaluating a variety of programs specific to aquatics area within the facility

  • Monitoring of student-athletes academic and athletic development

  • Adhere to all NCAA, conference and institution policies and procedures

  • Oversees and coordinates the recruitment, training, scheduling, certification, and performance of student employees of the facility; supervises the day-to-day activities of the pool

  • Oversees and coordinates the administration of the facility, to include scheduling of facility operations

  • Oversees the maintenance of the pools, to include chemistry, cleanliness, and related maintenance
  • Develops, implements, and oversees a variety of aquatics programs for students, faculty, staff, and/or members of the general public

  • Participates in and teaches aquatic and safety certification training sessions, as necessary

  • Participates in the development of annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction to the unit

  • Develops and maintains records of operational facility usage; monitors and maintains inventories of pool equipment and supplies

  • Prepares statistical reports on a monthly basis, and prepares data and narrative for inclusion in annual reports

  • Other duties, as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred

  • Three (3) years of head coaching experience or (4) years assistant coach in a collegiate environment

  • A demonstrated record of promoting the academic success of student-athletes

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of and experience in recruiting

  • Evidence of working effectively with student-athletes of diverse races and cultures

  • Evidence of complying fully with NCAA regulations

  • The ability to travel both locally and nationally for the University, which includes possessing a valid driver’s license
