Job Summary

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in development of department policies & procedures as pertaining to athletic communications
  • Compiles and edits media guides and game day programs, assist the Director of Marketing and Communication in the graphic design of these publications
  • Coordinates interviews, produces press releases and game notes with corresponding statistical information for the news media and publication on the College’s website
  • Maintains with timely updates the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics website, to include scores, rosters, schedules, articles, press releases, team and individual statistics, videos and game notes
  • Maintains and updates a historical record archive associated with scores, rosters, schedules, articles, press releases, team and individual statistics, and game notes
  • Supervises the statistics staff and work-study staff that assist in the administration of all intercollegiate athletic contests, as well as coordinates with coaches who have sports information assignments associated with their respective coaching positions
  • Collaborates with the Director of Athletics and Director of Marketing and Communication on the vision and direction of athletic communication and marketing
  • Responds to sports media inquiries (local, regional and national), as well as cultivate relationships with sports media contacts that result in published stories about the College’s intercollegiate athletic coaches and athletes
  • Conducts limited photography while managing all photographers (student and professional) contracted to conduct athletic photography for the College. Contracts with professional photographers for annual shoots of varsity teams
  • Assists the College Sports Hall of Fame Committee with recipient selection
  • Coordinates the streaming video broadcasts
  • Attends all required meetings with athletic staff, college Marketing and Communications, and Midwest Conference personnel
  • Handles the nomination of student-athletes for all College, Midwest Conference, regional and national awards and honors
  • Coordinates all Senior Day recognition programs and other award presentations
  • Serves as a contributing editor for the Alumni Quarterly magazine. Serves on “StoryBoard” group
  • Works in concert with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations to plan and execute alumni games and the College Varsity Club Events
  • Works with the Office of Admissions to promote athletics
  • Tracks media coverage from outside outlets 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required
  • 1-3 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, journalism, marketing and media relationship programs, required
  • Familiarity with intercollegiate athletics
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication, interviewing and editing skills, required
  • Video production, graphic design and social media experience, preferred
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external constituencies
  • Strong appreciation for the value of private, liberal-arts-based education is a fundamental attribute
  • Ability to travel and work weekdays, weekends, and some evenings
  • Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and all social media outlets
  • Experience compiling sports statistics, including both Statcrew and Genius
