Job Summary

 

Essential and Related Functions:

  • Assisting with swimmer training and technique development; practice planning.
  • Identification and recruitment of athletically and academically qualified student-athletes.
  • Supervising and coordinating team strength and conditioning activities in accordance with Conference and university regulations.
  • Works in conjunction with the Assistant Coordinator of the Natatorium in scheduling all pool activities; hiring, training, scheduling and supervising of qualified lifeguards; developing and scheduling aquatic programming for the pool including classes, swim meets, swim lessons, lap swimming, camps, teams and other aquatic programs as developed and assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with all Association, Conference, and University rules by athletes and supporting staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree, collegiate swimming experience and collegiate coaching experience, or the equivalent of education and experience, is required.
  • A master's degree and CPO certification preferred.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.

Physical Requirements

  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Type of Work: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
