The Director of Spirit Programs and Events will administer and coach the cheerleading, dance, and mascot programs at the University, as well as assist the Fan Experience team in the promotion and execution of the University Athletics events, with an emphasis on community outreach efforts.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

• Manage the daily operation of all spirit programs at Wake Forest, including cheerleaders, the dance team, and the Demon Deacon mascot program.
• Coordinate the evaluation and selection of cheerleaders and dance squad members on an annual basis, including making determinations regarding recruiting, selection and scholarship offers.
• Coach spirit program members in the proper techniques to ensure safety.
• Develop and plan routines to enhance fan engagement at events.
• Work in partnership with strength and conditioning staff to supervise strength and conditioning program for the spirit programs.
• Manage inventory and purchase equipment, uniforms, and other accessories for spirit programs as needed.
• Plan spirit program trips and make necessary travel arrangements as needed with the athletic business office.
• Collaborate with the Fan Experience team to design promotional items to recruit future spirit program prospects.
• Recruit strong student athletes for spirit programs through outreach efforts and camp evaluations throughout the region.
• Implement and execute game day activities and responsibilities.
• Coordinate public appearances for spirit programs and the Demon Deacon mascot to promote the Wake Forest brand and drive revenue.
• Coordinate with the Spirit of the Old Gold and Black on band and cheer songs and routines to enhance fan experience at events.
• Manage community outreach efforts on behalf of Wake Forest Athletics Fan Experience to promote and maximize the Wake Forest Athletics brand.
