Physical Education Teacher & Assistant Athletic Director

Job Summary

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive Physical Education and Health instruction to students in grades PreK-8
  • Prepare lesson plans on a weekly basis and modify classes for age appropriate instruction
  • Assist the Director of Athletics in developing a robust wellness curriculum
  • Assist the Director of Athletics with the coordination of athletic department logistics including scheduling, officials, transportation, and equipment and uniform management 
  • Assist the Director of Athletics in hosting home games by managing the scoreboard and game clock
  • Maintain accurate records of academic performance and prepare quarterly student report cards
  • Maintain equipment and storage room in an organized manner
  • Coach at least one athletic season
  • Handle injuries and prepare incident reports as needed
  • Must be organized, punctual, and adhere to deadlines
  • Contribute to a positive culture and promote a healthy lifestyle for students, families, and staff/faculty 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or the Head of PK-8

Education, Work Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Physical Education (or a closely related subject)
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as a PE Teacher
  • Masters of Science in Physical Education preferred
  • CPR/AED/First AID Certified (or willingness to obtain certifications)
  • Ability to collaborate with school faculty/staff, parents, and students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exhibit leadership, critical thinking, organization, and decision-making skills
  • Exercise professional judgment in making decisions
  • Communicate appropriately, collaboratively, and effectively with students, parents, administrators, other school personnel
  • Be a self-starter with a demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to a new environment and technologies
  • Knowledge of various software applications (proficiency in Microsoft Office and G Suite applications)
  • Experience with Magnus Health and/or Veracross a plus
