Job Summary

 Duties, Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Record rules changes adopted by the committee and update the rules manuscript accordingly;
  • Report to committee at the annual meeting key issues, interpretations and protests given throughout the year;
  • Adhere to publishing deadlines in submitting updated or new material for publications;
  • Ensure the technical accuracy of the rules in submitting them for publication and in proofreading the corrected version;
  • Assist with the production of finished artwork of diagrams or equipment that the committee wishes to include in the published rules;
  • Review and adjudicate all protests;
  • Develop, with support from the national coordinator of officials, the annual rules test, as well as the production of presentations/materials for the officiating clinics;
  • Develop regular rules updates, points of emphasis, rules interpretations and clarifications to be posted on the Center Circle website on the ArbiterSports platform throughout the soccer season;
  • Attend and present at the United Soccer Coaches convention and facilitate discussions on playing rules;
  • Assist in the development of the rules survey;
  • m. Participate in all teleconferences that deal with soccer rules;
  • Prepare an agenda of proposed rules changes for consideration by the Men’s and Women’s Soccer Rules Committee at the annual meeting;
  • Attend the National Federation of State High School Associations’ Soccer Rules meeting to represent collegiate soccer, as requested;

 

Preferred Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (essential).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (essential).
  • Ability to relate effectively with officials and coaches on a national level (essential).
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills (essential).
  • Ability to use email as a means of correspondence (essential).
  • Ability to use computer technology as a means of education (essential).
  • Experience in officiating or coaching at the collegiate level (preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of national (U.S. Soccer) and international (IFAB/FIFA) competition rules (preferred)
