Job Summary
Job Summary:
The Director of Player Development reports directly to the Head Women's Basketball Coach. This individual is responsible for preparing student-athletes for personal, academic and athletic development success. Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and NCAA.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Chart and record statistics to forecast efforts for basketball plays, student-athletes and the team, providing advanced modeling of successful approaches to game strategy for the coaching staff.
- Create and implement individual development plans to ensure student-athletes' needs are addressed and met as they relate to academics and/or personal goals.
- In conjunction with sports performance and sports medicine staffs, develop and monitor the conditioning and training program to enhance individual and team potential.
- In collaboration with academic services, guide and promote the academic success of student-athletes, providing a positive atmosphere conducive to the social and academic growth of the student-athlete.
- Under the direction of the basketball recruiting coordinator, review recruiting documentation, prepare general correspondence, and assist in all areas of recruiting as allowed by the NCAA according to Bylaw 11.7.1.2.2.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university
- Previous experience coaching or playing at the collegiate level or working in an athletic department setting
- Communicates strategically to achieve specific objectives
- Maintains continuous, open and consistent communication with others. Checks own understanding through paraphrasing and asking questions.
- Judgment and Decision Making - Considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Problem Sensitivity- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- Knowledge of NCAA, Big Ten Conference, University and Department rules and guidelines preferred.
