Job Summary

Job Purpose

The Applications Developer is responsible for development, enhancement, maintenance, and support of systems and databases facilitating Augusta National’s year-round Tournament operations.  Reporting to the Director of IT, the holder of this position will interface closely with business stakeholders across the organization, and specifically Tournament Headquarters, to define system requirements and implement software features and enhancements.  The Developer is also integral in key operational aspects of the Masters Tournament managed by IT, Tournament Headquarters, and other departments.

 

Essential Functions

·         Responsible for participating in all application development activities as well as systems maintenance and support

·         Participates in the design, programming, testing, documentation, training, and implementation of all application enhancements per business requirements

·         Creates and maintains development standards including documentation, version control, and other items

·         Maintains appropriate contact with business stakeholders and project teams to communicate project status

·         Documents and maintains regular software upgrade schedules to ensure maximum system availability and reliability

·         Stays current on technology applicable to our software applications

·         During the Masters Tournament, ensures operability and uptime of all applicable systems and provides immediate support for any issues that arise

·         Responsible for other development tasks and duties as assigned

·         Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including the preparation and support of the Masters Tournament

·         Maintain the strict confidentiality of Augusta National Golf Club, its staff and membership, and all aspects of the business

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (required unless stated otherwise):

Skills/Knowledge:

·         Proven software development experience with the following languages:  VB/C# .Net, JavaScript, Angular 1

·         Proven experience developing Windows Apps, MVC Web Apps, Windows Services, and ASP.Net Web API

·         Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to translate business requirements into solutions

·         Proven experience with relational database design, creating/modifying SQL procedures, views, and queries as well as experience with the Microsoft Entity Framework

·         Experience with different application development methodologies including Agile

·         Prior experience with ticketing applications is a plus

·         Prior experience in the Sports and Entertainment industries is a plus

·         Ability to handle multiple priorities through effective organization and communication

·         Ability to maintain composure and focus while working in a high pressure environment

·         Ability to prioritize tasks and workload in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment

·         Strong self-motivation, disciplined problem solver

·         Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

 

Work Experience/Education:

·         Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science or relevant field

·         Minimum of three years of experience working as an applications developer

·         Any training and/or certifications applicable to this position are a plus

 

 

Work Environment

Work for this position is usually performed in a climate-controlled environment.  However, the employee may be required to work outside in extreme heat, cold, rain, wind or inclement weather as the demands of the position so dictate.

Projected Work Schedule

Normal work hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.  Must be available to work weekends, holidays and overtime as dictated by the needs of the business.

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move and carry up to 30 pounds.  Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.  Required intervals of walking, standing, stair climbing, and sitting during the day.  Equipment used includes, but is not limited to computer, printer, fax machine, telephone, calculator, copier, and shredder.
