Job Overview:

Next Level Sports is seeking an Equipment Manager to execute and manage all equipment-related aspects of our programs, including ordering and distribution of athletic equipment, procurement of products, and light production of key program components to support our program locations. The Manager would also manage the organization, compliance, and inventory of our equipment facility located in San Mateo, California. 


The ideal candidate is energetic, motivated, and possesses excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills. They exude professionalism and positivity, are highly organized, detail-oriented, efficient, and well-versed in Google Office Suite and inventory management. Proficient verbal, written, and computer skills are a must. 


This person will be responsible for executing the highest quality of operational support for our organization and our supported partners - while working in a fast-paced, start-up minded environment. Success in this role requires organization, resourcefulness, excellent communication skill, total follow-through, and most importantly, an understanding of what has made Next Level Sports successful for the past 10+ years: a full commitment to servicing our customers and participants with an unwavering passion for engagement, competition, and personal development. 


This is a full-time in-office position. The company will consider seasonal applicants that are available from September - January. Relocation assistance will be provided for the right candidate. The start range for this position is early-mid September or as determined with any/all candidates.


What You’ll Do:

  • Provide general oversight and quality control of all sports/program equipment associated with all Next Level Sports programs,

  • Continuously improve functional operational processes related to general equipment operations,

  • Interact and coordinate in a cross-functional manner with general company operations,

  • Support and fulfill all aspects of the Next Level Team Store - inclusive of light production of garments, procurement of embellishment and their appropriate applications.

  • Liaison with 3rd party vendors and suppliers to the core Next Level Sports programs for all uniform coordination, execution and delivery to participants,

  • Support returned/exchange merchandise associated with season uniforms as well as the Next Level Team Store,

  • Assist with long-term merchandise planning, purchasing and inventory management of soft goods and hard goods.

  • Ideate and implement a department inventory control system,

  • Work with Next Level Site Directors advising them with respect to the issuing, shipment, use, and return of athletic equipment required for their program,

  • Meticulously track inventory, assessing increased equipment needs through program/site growth, 

  • Maintain an organized and operational equipment warehouse and ensure the space is up to all OSHA / Fire Marshal codes,

  • Maintain accurate inventories, oversee and manage the shipping and receiving areas associated with the warehouse management,

  • Train and supervise student interns (seasonally),

  • Other duties as assigned and determined in coordination with the Next Level Operations team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, continued education is a plus

  • 2+ years of direct inventory management experience

  • Strong interpersonal communication and people skills

  • Proactive work style and proven success in self-management

  • A demonstrated passion for athletics and youth enrichment

  • Proficient computer skills (including Google Suite & inventory software)

  • Patience, stress tolerance, and the ability to think quickly

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and own operational functions

  • Ability to lead, train, and functionally supervise interns and/or student employees

  • Experience in any team or individual sport is a plus 

  • Experience working in/alongside professional or collegiate equipment management also highly regarded


Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
