    Summary: The Application Developer is responsible for development as per technical specifications, software design, software implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Subscriber Management Systems. He/She will provide superior technical skills and the ability to work as part of a team in a rapidly changing environment. The applications supported by this position include both proprietary (custom) and vendor supplied solutions. Must have a demonstrated ability to work from business requirements through technical design, development, and show a good attention to detail and thorough unit testing.

    Position responsibilities:

  • Full system life cycle development of customer self-service and customer care center applications and other application.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of assignments.
  • Follow high level of standards across all levels of work.
  • Develop source code in primarily C and Java to implement the design.
  • Appropriately check in and merge developed source files according to their target releases.
  • Develop unit tests correlating to given requirements for each assigned task.
  • Work in a team environment by submitting source code and unit test cases for review and performing reviews of other team member's deliverables.
  • Respond to production issues with details of their impact and what the fix requires.
  • Required to be skilled in undertaking complex projects that involve the customization or integration of complex systems.
  • Familiarity with other technologies including Oracle SQL, Unix Shell Scripting, CVS or other Source Control system.

    Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment, and to interact daily with all levels of staff.
  • Must have a background of hands-on skills that will earn the respect of IT professions as well as leaders of other parts of the business.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Application Development experience.
  • Must be able to solve complex technical problems and communicate the solution to non-technical management and peers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work from business requirements and technical design.
  • Experience working in all aspects of SDLC management.
  • Proven track record in developing high quality applications.

    Software / Hardware Packages:

  • DBMS: Oracle
  • Software Development: C, C++, JAVA, XML, CVS, UNIX shell, Perl, SQL, PL-SQL
  • Methodology: MVC and Object Oriented Programming methodology a must. RUP methodology and associated tools.
  • Subscription applications: Familiarity with Portal Infranet or Oracle Communications Global Business Unit (CGBU) preferred but not required.
