Job Summary
Overview:
Intersport, a leader in sports, entertainment, and lifestyle marketing and media for more than 32 years, is seeking to add a smart and driven marketer to its Content Marketing team. The Content Marketing team is integral to providing existing clients with a variety of solutions to help them reach their business and brand objectives.
The Director of Content Marketing will be primarily responsible for new business with a focus on advancing existing “warm” leads. Secondarily, the Director will provide senior-level account leadership to a variety of existing clients. The Director should be a thoughtful and collaborative marketing professional with a deep understanding of the marketing and media landscape, including brand management, content and creative production, digital media, social media, and channel distribution.
Responsibilities:
General
- Embody Intersport’s performance-based culture and commits him/herself and team to the highest standards in all work
- Represent Intersport with enthusiasm and integrity
New Business (75% focus)
- Lead new business efforts and work cross-functionally with internal teams to develop RFP responses including idea generation, campaign strategy, program budgets, execution and delivery
- Partner with relevant Intersport business practices, namely Sales, Experiences, Sponsorship and Properties to offer innovative content marketing solutions for their clients and prospects
- Collaborate with Marketing & Strategy team on all-agency opportunities to serve as a brand content/distribution specialist during brainstorms and presentations
- Actively educate Intersport employees on the power of content marketing and merchandise best practices, new ideas, and industry trends internally
Client Management & Communication (25% focus)
- Oversee key Content Marketing client relationships and serves as the agency lead on day-to-day communication with the client team to deliver executional excellence
- Demonstrate an understanding and a passion for his/her clients’ industry, business, consumer and brands and establish himself/herself as a trusted strategic business partner to the client
- Provide leadership in the form of overall management of the account team, process, finances, strategy and growth
- Develop end-to-end content marketing solutions for brand marketers, including content strategy, creation and distribution, and execute such solutions flawlessly
- Partner with Productions and Graphics departments on content creation to ensure brand assets are delivered with appropriate style and tone and at exceptional quality
- Collaborate with additional Intersport practices, such as Experiences, Customer Engagement, and Hospitality to identify and execute multi-faceted client solutions
- Work with Content Marketing leadership to set business goals, forecast revenue, evaluate marketplace trends and competitors, and manage vendor partnerships
- Participates in Content Marketing team management, talent retention and acquisition
Team Management
- Works collaboratively with all Content Marketing team members and oversees account team/s of assigned clients
- Manages, trains, and mentors assigned junior staff with responsibility for goal setting, feedback, and constructive guidance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Masters degree in a plus
- Eight (8) to ten (10) years’ experience in a marketing role at an agency, brand, media company, sports or entertainment property, or related organization
- Sports content/strategy experience is favorable
- Deep knowledge of creative and media agency landscapes
- Previous involvement in a sales environment and comfortable presenting to C-level executives and decision-makers
- Previous leadership of clients, support teams and marketing/media plans $5MM+
- Passion for consumer insights and knowledge of research/planning resources
- Ability to develop complex ideas and and execute them completion
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive self-starter with demonstrated follow-through
- High emotional intelligence
- Proven effectiveness in managing junior team members
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel for business on trips as required
