Job Summary

How would you like to have a communications internship with “The Strongest team in America?!”

The National Governing Body of Olympic Weightlifting under the U.S. Olympic Committee is seeking an enthusiastic student with a multi-disciplined skill set to assist support and strengthen the National headquarters of USA Weightlifting by working closely with the communications department of the organization. An internship with USA Weightlifting will assist gain practical experience that parallels academic study and fosters strong working relationships in the sports industry.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Support the communications department with content creation and management.
• Assist the communications director with social media strategy, planning and execution.
• Field and route requests from the media.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Provide operational support with various projects such as: membership, fundraising & sponsorship.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Tools /Equipment:

• Standard office equipment.
• Microsoft Applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
• Proficiency with social media, internet search capabilities, usage of telecommunications equipment.
• Proficiency with graphics software useful.

CONDITIONS

• Dynamic, open office environment in multi-story building at the US. Olympic Sport House.
• Business casual environment.

REQUIRED EXERIENCE

Qualifications:

• Educational Requirements: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor degree program at the junior or senior level status or currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point & Outlook
• Passion for business, sport and the ideals of the Olympic Movement.
• Excellent communication and human relations skills with the understanding of business processes.
• Eligible to work in the USA.
