Job Summary

Job Overview

  • Assist with the administration of University Athletics digital platforms which includes social media accounts and the department website.
  • Be a distribution point for department messaging as a direct liaison between the department and the public.

 Duties

  • Assisting the lead manager of day-to-day content planning for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Pinterest and Giphy.
  • Develop original content such as written messaging, hype videos, photos, GIFs and graphics.
  • Expected to attend a variety of events and provide real-time updates to fan bases.
  • Tasked with the development and distribution of written and/or video features on student-athletes, coaches or staff members for the university's website.
  • May have the opportunity to work with sponsors, and coordinate content with the Department of Athletics and its media rights holder. 
  • This is an entry level, career based internship and is intended for professional development of an applicant with only 6 to 24 months practical experience.
  • Position is focused on furthering knowledge and skills in the field of digital media.
  • This is a 12-month, full-time paid internship. 
  • This pontsition works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced and innovation is encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in managing various social media platforms is required, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, YouTube, Periscope and Giphy.
  • Must possess ability to keep pace with emerging social media and technological innovations as well as excel in creating original, entertaining, thought-provoking content to expand upon public interaction on all athletics digital media platforms.
  • Strong writing skills are a must and knowledge of desktop publishing and photo/video editing programs, including the ability to edit video and design animated motion graphics such as GIFs is a necessity.
  • Possess an innovative technical mindset.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team environment, foster relationships and capability to coordinate strategic communication plans are required.
  • Work a flexible work schedule based on events, including evenings and weekends. 

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (eg. Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, InDesign, etc.), HTML, CSS and familiarity with DSLR, Go Pro and 360 cameras.
