Role Summary

The Engineer will operate, maintain and care for all aspects of the physical facility. In conjunction with the Director of Operations, establish a high level of facility appearance, functionality and operational standards that will firmly establish the reputation and status of The Forum as a premier entertainment facility. The Engineer will be the key management contact for all building engineering functions during events. Strong electrical experience is a must.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary

 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/ACTIVITIES SUMMARY:

 

• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for the facility including all electrical equipment, mechanical, refrigeration, and HV/AC plumbing.• Operate and maintain all components of the electrical, plumbing and HVAC equipment.• Inspect and make necessary repairs as needed to electrical systems, pumps, motors, compressors, and plumbing.• Maintain all city and LA County agency inspection records and insure timely inspections. Insure adherence to all applicable codes and regulations. Be familiar with all aspects of the building.• Perform duties of the Fire Safety Director. As such, must be familiar with and maintain building sprinkler, standpipe, smoke purge, and emergency exit lighting systems. Must be knowledgeable of exits and paths of egress and insure exits and paths of egress are kept clear at all times.• Operate the automated Fire Alarm system and respond to alarms and emergency situations. Assist LACFD with knowledge of facility particularly related to Life Safety Systems and planning.• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.• Familiarity with event schedule and provide support for event requirements as needed

  • 2-4 years’ experience in high-end client service environment, preferably in venues

  • Prioritize and complete projects in a timely manner

  • Have a diverse and strong technical background in all mechanical areas in operating and troubleshooting

  • Ability to problem solve

Technical/ Functional Competencies:

 


  • Ability to maintain, service and take an analytical approach to trouble- shooting and repairing refrigeration compressors, package units, commercial food service refrigeration equipment, building systems pumps, 3 phase motors, and AC electrical distribution panels

  • Ability to maintain, service and take an analytical approach to trouble- shooting and repairing refrigeration compressors, package units, commercial food service refrigeration equipment, building systems pumps, 3 phase motors, and AC electrical distribution panels

  • Plumbing abilities include sweating and brazing, ability to cut and install no hub, copper, galvanized and black iron pipe, as well as installation of plumbing fixture, e.g. toilets, sinks, urinals and faucets. Must be able to use a mechanical snake to clear main line sewer stoppages

  • Assist with carpentry, painting and all aspects of care and maintenance of the facility. Oil changes, lubes and other maintenance as needed

  • Maintain Forum motor vehicles, forklifts, golf carts performance

  • This position will play a key role in managing energy and utility consumption and in establishing efficient facility operating practices. Understanding of California energy codes and cost-effective management of utilities in an entertainment venue is a plus

 

Key Experiences/Achievements:

 


  • Experience as a facility maintenance engineer

  • DLSE Certified (Division Labor Standards Enforcement)

  • California Refrigeration Operators License

  • Sprinkler and Standpipe Certificate of Fitness

  • Experience with DDC and Pneumatic Controls including BMS

  • Fire Safety Director License or similar

  • Valid Driver’s License to operate Forum vehicles as needed

  • Skilled at working collaboratively in a team environment

  • Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable and professional relationship with a diverse group

  • Strong Interpersonal Skills

  • Must be willing to travel to other locations as needed

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekend, night and holidays as required

 

Education

Candidates who have completed 60 credits of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred. Educational requirements may differ from job to job based on the role.
