Job Summary

The BIG EAST Conference seeks qualified applicants for the position of Associate Commissioner, Marketing and External Affairs. Based in New York City, this position is primarily responsible for the conference’s externally focused initiatives, including marketing and promotions, championship ticket sales, revenue generation, brand management, fan experience, digital and social media strategy and execution. Additional responsibilities include serving as the primary liaison with Fox Sports College Properties in support of the corporate sponsorship program, managing the licensing/merchandising program, serving as coordinator of campus marketing directors council, working collaboratively with the Fox Sports marketing unit to enhance exposure/viewership of BIG EAST programming, and providing strategic communication counsel on conference-wide matters. The Associate Commissioner serves as a member of the conference’s senior leadership team.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in Division I intercollegiate athletics, with an emphasis on leading externally focused units and a proven record of revenue generation.
  • Possess deep understanding of key issues facing intercollegiate athletics and higher education.
  • Demonstrated record of developing positive relationships with key partners in the intercollegiate athletics space related to broadcasting, corporate sponsorship, licensing, apparel, etc. 
  • Excellent communication skills - written, oral, and presentation.
  • Proven ability to develop creative and impactful marketing, promotion, and public relations campaigns (traditional and digital).
  • Strong work ethic and problem solving abilities.
  • Proven skills as a collaborator and consensus-builder (internal and external).
  • Ability to positively represent the BIG EAST Conference on NCAA or similar external committees and organizations.
