Job Summary

 

This position is a key leadership position with primary responsibility for providing operational oversight and management for the collegiate event team. This individual will work closely with the Sr. Managers and Event Managers in the collegiate pod to create a positive and efficient environment, focused on executing with excellence. This position will work with other Directors in developing and driving consistent event processes across all Anthony Travel event team, including the implementation of uniform training programs around all processes. This leader will play a key role in managing existing clients and bringing new clients onboard and reports to the Vice President – Event Services.

This person must be a dynamic individual with broad business knowledge and the ability to represent the company as a leader in the sports travel industry with an emphasis on collegiate events including bowl games and pre-season and postseason basketball events. This individual must provide excellent leadership across the office environment. This person must have proven communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients, associates, vendors, and other business professionals and the ability to form and grow strategic partnerships. This individual must have a demonstrated ability to plan projects, and define, document and train processes across multiple projects. This individual must be able to manage multiple roles, priorities and responsibilities simultaneously.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Daily management of collegiate event team including a minimum of 3 direct reports.

  • Ongoing client management with various collegiate clients

  • Work with both executives and event managers to develop consistent client management strategies

  • Develop operational plan to manage bowl business as efficiently as possible

  • Provide leadership and direction while working with leaders of other event teams to develop standardized, documented processes for Anthony Travel’s event business.

  • Develop a collaborative environment that is effective at reviewing the efficiency and accuracy of our processes and identify and implement improvements in a timely fashion.

  • Work with Sr. Managers and Event Managers to design, document and implement operational training programs for Event Coordinators and Event Managers. 

  • Expand our ability to identify and track opportunities to improve our quality. This will include expanding and ensuring adoption of the current error tracking program.

  • Work closely with project leaders to adjust, document and implement our event processes to utilize our new Event Management System when it is launched. 

  • Provide operational leadership, supervision, mentorship and support the collegiate team. 

  • Establish operational accountability (checklists, quality assurance tests etc.) for the collegiate team and share best practices across event teams.

  • Assist with the development of strategies to grow our collegiate event business through the acquisition of new collegiate clients and/or growth within existing client base

    Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Development, documentation and implementation of specific event procedures and systems

  • Identification and implementation of operational efficiencies

  • Develop training materials. Coordinate training program.

  • Drive focus on Continuous Quality Improvement

  • Collaborate with event and customer service teams to identify improvement opportunities and develop training to impact results

  • Event execution when/as requested

  • Situation analysis and decision making

  • Working with ATLAS project lead and other Directors on the ATLAS launch

  • Help document and train processes related to new Event Management System

  • Provide support for event teams on issues related to use of EMS

  • Implement new events and clients

  • Transition new events/clients to event team

  • Work with clients as needed to identify specific needs and expectations

  • Manage key client relationships as needed

  • Identify further sales and service opportunities

  • Work with other Senior Managers and Event Managers to develop and implement best practices across event teams

    Administrative Responsibilities

  • Conduct Event Team and Leadership Team meetings as needed

  • Provide leadership / feedback on process development / improvement during meeting.

  • Participate in post-event review meetings on a regular basis

  • Conduct process review/improvement meetings on a regular basis

  • Provide input on performance reviews, bonuses and merit increases.

  • Reconcile all AMEX charges made on issued card

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university

  • Deep and personal commitment to the Core Values of Anthony Travel

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Experience in a management position (minimum of 7 years) preferably in the collegiate sports and/or travel and hospitality industry

  • General business knowledge and experience in oversight and/or coordination of multiple departments

  • Flexible with work and travel schedule. Ability to travel for work during holidays.

  • A proven track record of strong personal effectiveness in which imaginative and distinctive leadership have been demonstrated.
