JOB SUMMARY

Facilitate development and commercialization of frames and components manufactured in China.  Service CSG Design and Product Management teams by traveling and working directly with key factories and suppliers.

PERSONAL RELATOINSHIPS

Based in Changzhou, China.  Reports directly to Barry Lewis, Engineering Manager - Asia. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaboration with Design Engineer / Industrial Design teams globally to develop industry leading designs within CSG’s manufacturing supply chain in Asia
• Work with Design Engineer and suppliers to get final/approved specifications, drawings, and renderings
• Support vendor process development in regard to manufacturing methods needed to make product to specifications
• Assist Design Engineering to achieve price targets with manufacturing method research and recommendations
• Work with suppliers on paint mask design and paint process improvements
• Manage and conduct process improvement initiatives with suppliers
• Recognize incorrect operations and manage the action plan with the vendor to correct them
• Use risk analysis tools to understand the process and design risk for project designs
• Review and give feedback on design for manufacturing and assembly
• Conduct meetings and answer for production variances
• Analyze tooling and fixturing requirements
• Support first article inspection, process flow charts, and control plans
• Review process documentation against actual build methods
• Understand and analyze tolerance requirements
• Attend project meetings with process and project updates
• Act as the liaison between Design Engineering and the vendor
• Support CSG Quality department as needed
• Work with suppliers to develop new processes and standard operating procedures
• Qualify new suppliers and new processes
• Assist Design Engineers with prototype development
• Assist scouring teams with manufacturing / engineering based recommendations
• Assist R&D team members from USA and Germany during all Asian supplier visits

JOB REQUIEMENT 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• University / College graduate, degree in engineering related field or equivalent
• Proven success in bicycle frame, component, and/or bike accessories manufacturing
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in alloy or composite manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of paint mask design, painting processes, and Aluminum welding
• Experience with injection molding
• Familiar with USA/European market a plus

SKILLS:

• Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) and English, both in speaking and writing is essential
• Excellent leadership with good team work spirit and strategy concepts
• Good commercial sense, communication, and negotiation skill
• Expert in manufacturing process fundamentals with the ability to understand and fix process variation and non-conformance
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Thorough understanding of quality procedures such as FAI and PFMEA
• Ability to support multiple projects at the same time
• Computer skill for MS office, CAD, ProE/CREO is a plus
• Must be able to read, understand, and create 2D drawings
• Good sense of market trend
