Summary of the Position

This position manages and facilitates all aspects of coaching the sailing team, including practices, regattas and team travel. This position also reinforces safety, and helps minimize risk and potential injury of any student participants in sailing.



Essential Functions

Oversees the participation of the Bentley Sailing club at activities and events where they are requested to be present.

Conducts practices off site (at the BU Boathouse) in a professional and organized manner. The head coach is responsible for attending all practices and competitions (regattas) with students including travel to any regattas out of the region.


Minimum Qualifications(Education and Experience Requirements)

Bachelor's Degree. Previous experience in coaching/instructing sailing at a level comparable with a University club sport program.

First Aid certification and CPR training is required.

Previous experience working with a higher education undergraduate population or adolescent/young adult individuals, as in a school, camp, or related setting.






Physical Demands

Position requires a high level of physical ability and knowledge of sailing practices while maintaining safe standards for student participants.

Special Instructions to Applicants

This position is non-benefit eligible. This position works from August through May, working 10 hours per week. The rate is $19.00 per hour.
