Job Summary

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Club Assembly is the Plant Manager for TaylorMade’s club assembly operation in Tijuana, Mexico.  The facility is managed by TaylorMade with labor provided by a third party.  The Plant Manager is the primary conduit for information between TaylorMade headquarters in Carlsbad, California and the assembly facility in Tijuana, Mexico.

The Plant Manager is responsible for maintaining and consistently improving TaylorMade’s assembly operation.   This position reports to the Senior Director of Operations and ensures that the overall company metrics associated with the facility tied to headquarters Strategy Deployment are monitored and controlled in order to meet the needs of the business.  This position is responsible for identifying and leading prioritized initiatives associated with achieving plant metrics, mitigating significant risks to backsliding, or raising the bar.  This position sustains a positive work environment that allows TaylorMade to benefit from the efforts of club assemblers and of those supporting them.  

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of receiving, order fulfillment, distribution of goods, including information flow, material flow, and financial management
  • Build a positive work environment that is consistent across the entire operation
  • Foster culture of continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Monitor and maintain accurate account of all inventory
  • Review inventory adjustments, monitoring slow moving inventory with TMaG planners & finance for proper disposition
  • Oversee shipping & receiving functions, using all modes of transport and service providers
  • Monitor consumables purchasing to ensure optimal inventory levels maintained
  • Confirm compliance to Key Account shipping instructions, routing guides, etc.
  • Manage overall company metrics associated with the facility and tied to HQ Strategy Deployment
  • Communicate with Planning and Assembly Engineering in Carlsbad regarding new product launch schedules, tracking critical phases of activity, and collaborating on capacity planning
  • Deliver plant update during daily  cross-functional Operations meeting
  • Partner with NAPS, the plant labor provider, to build & improve business relationship with on-site NAPS HR team members
  • Motivate team to achieve targets across all categories, providing workload prioritization as necessary
  • Take the lead to resolve issues and elevate larger issues to extended management team as necessary.
  • Lead monthly plant report out meetings and provide direction, support, & leadership on aligned initiatives
  • Manage facility financial reforecast, review with finance team & Director monthly
  • Build annual budget for the facility
  • Ensure NAPS invoices are being reviewed for accuracy
  • Directly manage, coach, support a Club Assembly Manager, shipping/receiving supervisor, continuous improvement engineer, & others as necessary
  • Communicate clear expectations for all employees and provide accountability for performance
  • Communicate TaylorMade’s business needs, expectations, and strategy as it relates to this team
  • Ensure onboarding training program effectiveness
  • Performs other responsibilities as required
      • Must be fluent in Spanish with ability to communicate business and technical information to lay people.

      • Ability to work across teams and manage priorities to accomplish multiple tasks is required.

      • Must be highly detail oriented
      • Experience managing facility level budgets
      • Solid understanding of lean production concepts - value stream mapping, kanban, single piece flow, poke-yoke, simple and visual, kaizen, single-minute exchange of die (SMED), etc.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
      • Understanding of related Oracle EBS and/or WMS software preferred
      • Understanding of data analytics tools preferred
      • Independent and self-directed with accountability to make sound business decisions
      • Demonstrating effective time-management and multi-tasking skills
      • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of the organization
      • Passion for sports required, with passion/interest/knowledge for golf strongly preferred

      Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering or supply chain management with 8-10 years of related experience in assembly operations OR 15+ years of related experience in assembly or manufacturing operations and warehousing.
      • Extensive TaylorMade business acumen preferred
      • Must have a basic understanding of the concepts and be proficient in the use of computerized warehouse management systems [Oracle EBS and/or WMS software preferred] 
      Formal training or professional certification in lean fundamentals required

      Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

      • Work within manufacturing, distribution, and office environments
      • Requires regular/daily travel to Tijuana, Mexico
      • Travel to Carlsbad for the day regularly as necessary
      • Travel 1-2 weeks/year to other locations within North America as necessary
      • Must be able to work flexible hours when required
      • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials up to 25 pounds
      • Regularly required to stand for long periods of time, bend and reach as required
