Job Summary

Position Summary

A Tennis Camp Director is responsible for the direct care, instruction and supervision of all campers and Team members, promoting and actively participating in all camp activities, providing a safe and fun learning environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers and Team members.

 

Position Objective/Purpose

We are seeking motivated team members who believe deeply in the organization’s mission and who display a record of achievement in effective supervision & management of Team members and campers.  The candidate must be capable of building positive relationships, providing top-notch customer service and ensuring the safety and well-being of people of all ages.  This position will require the candidate to complete multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the professional standards of ESF.

 

Position Scope Factors

Directors are employed in the following camps;

  • Mini Camp: 3 year olds
  • Day Camp: 4 – 8 year olds
  • Senior Camp: 9 – 15 year olds
  • Sports Camp: 6 - 15 year olds
  • Tennis camp: 6 - 15 year olds
  • Aquatics: all ages
 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. Group supervision of campers with attention to: instruction to increase skill levels, behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development
  2. Complete paperwork as assigned
  3. Serve as a positive role model to campers and Team members
  4. Monitor the organization, supervision, and administration of all activities and assemblies
  5. Conduct morning briefings daily with Team
  6. Conduct mid and end of summer Team member evaluations
  7. Assist and support the Site Director in any camp operation or activity
  8. Coordinate daily schedules
  9. Attend all ESF events
  10. Model behavior & group management strategies for groups
  11. Monitor safety and security of all campers and Team Members
  12. Conduct tours of the camp facilities and program areas to prospective camp families when applicable
  13. Oversee sign-in of campers into Club OT
  14. Follow the ESF Code and maintain the ESF Look at all times
  15. Exhibit ESF Core Values at all times and to adhere to all company policies
  16. Have fun
  17. Other responsibilities as assigned

Experience Requirements

  1. Previous experience working with children in a supervisory or administrative capacity
  2. Performance management and facilitation experience (preferred)
  3. 1 – 3 years administrative/leadership experience (required)
  4. Staff supervision experience (required)
 

Certification Requirements

  1. Previous Tennis and supervisory experience (required)
  2. Teaching certification (preferred)
  3. First Aid/CPR (preferred)
 

Education Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
 

Other Skill Requirements

  1. Outstanding communication skills which include the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all aspects of professional interaction with campers, their families, peers, leadership team and the larger community
 

Reporting Relationships

  1. Reports directly to and takes direction from Site Director.
 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35lbs
  2. Endurance to work outside and on your feet for 6-8 hours per day
  3. Ability to respond to emergency situations which may require running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and climbing stairs.
  4. Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position

Responsibilities

  • Be positive, motivational and a leader to Team members
  • Record and maintain a log of all daily activities and observations
  • Monitor the organization, supervision, and administration of all activities and assemblies
  • Conduct Weekly Team Meetings
  • Make sure Team Members are conducting head counts always
  • Ensure and enforce safety at all times
  • Catch Team members doing something great and let them know about it
  • Conduct mid-summer and end of summer Team Member evaluations
  • Conduct end of summer exit interviews with each Team member
  • Set the tone for the entire camp – keep it safe and fun for everyone
  • Assist and support the Site Director in any camp operation or activity 
  • Maintain the ESF Look
  • Provide support to all Team members
  • Direct and supervise all camp programs
  • Communicate with parents/guardians either through written and/or verbal contact
  • Identify and meet camper needs
  • Coordinate daily schedule
  • Provide alternative behavior management techniques
  • Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities
  • Review agenda for Weekly Team Meeting
  • Provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the camp family and Team Members
  • Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers and Team Members
  • Conduct tours of the camp facilities and program areas to prospective camp families when applicable

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. Degree
  • Proven leadership/management experience required
  • Camp Director experience preferred
  • Classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Behavior management experience with children
  • Exceptional Customer Service Skills
  • Organized, detail oriented, team player
  • Fun, outgoing, motivational

Physical Requirements:
