Job Summary
Job Summary:
We are on the hunt for an experienced sports talk show producer to be the executive producer of all sports programming on WOR, including New York Mets baseball and sports talk programming.
The successful candidate will have the proven ability to produce both play-by-play baseball and a sports talk show along with an understanding of sports, news/talk and general radio programming principles. Candidate should have a strong knowledge of baseball particularly.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee each Mets play by play broadcast to ensure that it is executed properly.
- Working with Mets broadcast talent on content and the execution of all features and segments.
- Book guests for Mets pre- and post-game shows.
- Writes copy for Mets broadcast promotional use and live content in game broadcasts
- Manage Mets and sports content on station social media account
- Create and post stories on the WOR website featuring compelling headlines and graphics
- Create Mets game recaps that include highlights and interviews after each game for web posting and social media distribution
- Work with traffic and sales department to ensure all paid elements/features are executed in Mets game broadcasts
- Work with production department to create billboards and other elements for each Mets game broadcast
- Manage Mets play-by-play broadcasters schedule for spring training, regular season, and postseason availability.
- Generates commercial logs and live feature reports for Mets game broadcasts
- Oversee Mets play by play radio network affiliates and is responsible for proper distribution of each broadcast to them
- Coordinates remote broadcasts of “Mets on Deck” pre-show
- Provides daily rundowns for Mets games including sound and key storylines to morning show
- Work with sports host(s) to generate interesting opinions and content relative to the day’s sports news.
- Writes promo copy for daily “Sports Zone” program.
- Works with production director on elements and bits for sports programming
- Screens callers for sports talk programming and executes contests
Ideal candidate must possess/Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years sports talk producing experience
- Need to work weekends during baseball season and be available to executive produce all New York Mets game broadcasts
- Must have huge knowledge of all major sports, particularly baseball
- Must be laser beam organized and able to juggle announcer schedules, baseball promotions, client copy and billboards
- Be social media savvy
- Must be a specialist in booking sports guests
- Have a deep knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
- Have the ability to think clearly and quickly under pressure situations
- Demonstrate solid news judgment
- Possess digital editing and production skills
- Exercise self-discipline and time-management skills
- Ability to work well and in a professional under pressure and tight deadlines
