Community Sports Leagues (CSL) Soccer Referees

Job Summary

In NYC, children from low-income neighborhoods have limited access to organized sports and exercise. Asphalt Green is working to change that with our Community Sports Leagues (CSL). In 2009, Asphalt Green created CSL for public middle school children in Harlem. Students receive instruction and compete in three sports: flag football, basketball, and soccer. Through the instruction of our coaches and competition, they develop sports skills, healthy exercise habits, learn life lessons, and develop self- esteem.

We are looking for passionate, knowledgeable and experience Soccer Referees to referee our middle school aged (11-14) soccer games. Games are played outdoors and indoors (field is split up into 4 mini- fields)

Schedule:

• Games are held on Saturday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

• Games dates are as follows:

   o 3/31

   o 4/14

   o 4/21

   o 4/28

   o 5/5

   o 5/12

   o 5/19

   o 6/2

   o 6/9

   o 6/16- Playoff

   o 6/23-Championship Day

Duties:

• Referees must set up each field for the games

• Referees must distribute and collect all soccer balls

• Referees must make sure all game being on time

• Referees must make sure team goalies have on game pinnies

• Referees must keep score of each game. Report game scores and sportsmanship points to site- coordinator and newsletter writer

Qualifications:

• Must have experiencing refereeing soccer games

• Must have excellent communication skills to provide exemplary customer service to athletes, coaches, and parents

Pay Rate: $18-$22 (based on experience)

This job is contingent on being cleared to work in schools by the NYC Department of Education. Asphalt Green will pay for fingerprinting after job offers have been made.
