Quantitative Analyst, Business Analytics and Strategy

This position will focus on supporting initiatives within the Business Analytics and Strategy department by analyzing data relevant to the revenue generation of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The primary responsibilities include creating, implementing, and maintaining predictive models to be used by various departments within the organization in their decision making process. This position will also work to support the database infrastructure through the integration of third party data streams.

Job Responsibilities

Primary:

1. Design, test, implement, and maintain predictive models for business operations with a primary focus on revenue generating departments, i.e., ticket pricing, season ticket member retention, and in-season revenue projections.
2. Communicate with department leaders by presenting the results of analyses and the potential implications in a clear, non-technical fashion to improve their decision making process.
3. Integrate models into Tableau reporting platform.
4. Research emerging statistical methods, algorithms, and tools relevant to the business operations and recommend/implement them where applicable.
5. Maintain and extend current models through the use of SQL, Oracle, Python and R.
6. Work with the Director, Business Analytics and Strategy to maintain and extend the current database infrastructure through the integration of third party data streams.
7. Provide ad-hoc analysis and reports for various projects as needed.
8. Other duties as assigned by Director, Business Analytics and Strategy.

Secondary:

1. Provide feedback on current Business Analytics and Strategy department operations to suggest process enhancements and efficiencies.
2. Attend other corporate department meetings, when appropriate, to assist department in identifying areas of opportunity to provide support in other decision making processes.

Required:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in statistics, engineering, applied math, physics, quantitative social sciences, computer science, operations research or similar field.
• Experience with relational database systems and some knowledge of SQL.
• Proficiency in one or more programming language, preferably Python or R.
• Demonstrated ability to present complex models and ideas to decision makers using oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present ideas using data visualization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Desired:

• Experience with ticketing data.
• Experience with a CRM system.
• Experience with an enterprise reporting system, i.e. Tableau.
