POSITION SUMMARY

The Front-End Interactive Developer is a new role and a vital contributor passionate about web interface design and experience using the latest development practices, standards, tools and methodologies. This role will report to the Sr. Front-End Developer. The FE Interactive Developer will bridge the gap between marketing content editors and platform developers creating custom site experiences and supporting The North Face’s digital engagement objectives. This role will a play a crucial part within Digital Creative Services, an in-house digital creative agency, collaborating with designers, ecommerce teams and digital marketers implementing layout and designs for a variety business and marketing web interactive needs helping to elevate our digital experience to the standard and recognition befitting of the The North Face brand.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the support and administration of custom sites experiences using the latest Adobe® AEM integration and solution support. Lead the front-end development and customization of Adobe® AEM, which also includes coordination with external platform developers, and hands on troubleshooting and configuration. Provide input to setting development and coding standards, design patterns, operating procedures in support of the VF Digital Platform.
  • Keep abreast of developing and emerging design and implementation tools and technologies in the digital commerce space and facilitate training of these topics to appropriate business partners.
  • Participate and lead in the analysis, vetting and selection of 3rd party solutions best suited for The North Face’s front-end objectives and needs. Design, develop, test and implement customize pages and interfaces. Have knowledge and some experience with API implementation and design practices with at least one backend language. Basic knowledge of the various Javascript frameworks and their adopted SPA frameworks is a plus.
  • Work closely with platform developers and digital creative agencies to integrate custom solutions  and experiences. Partner with Digital Art Director on concept, design, and implementation of new and innovative editorial/experiential landing page projects. Collaborate with Marketing Department for design vision and goals of GTM campaigns. Keeping abreast of developing and emerging design and implementation tools and technologies in the digital commerce space and facilitate training of these topics to appropriate business partners.
  • Partner with e-Commerce Manager and Site Experience Manager to improve content-to-commerce shopflow. Coordinate with members of e-Commerce and VFC Technology Teams to ensure a fluent and coherent experience across all devices.
  • Understand and appreciate good design, UI and UX practices. Strong proficiency in modern web design tools with Adobe Suite and a desire to help make a premium, modern marketing and e-commerce site experience befitting of The North Face brand.
  • Create required technical documentation related to the Adobe® AEM platform components and content authoring. Articulate design and workflow decisions to project teams and stakeholders. Process requirements of the different departments – from concept to implementation. All functions of the position should adhere to existing IT corporate policy. QAing, bug reporting and fixing. Help with monitoring of metrics associated with site performance and user engagement for recommendations in performance, engagement and design tactics.

 

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 years of experience developing and supporting mobile optimized applications with an emphasis on e-Commerce, including the research, design, production and implementation of usable web interfaces.
  • Additional technology certifications are a plus.
  • Familiarity with web standards and developing designs for multiple browsers and platforms.
  • Working knowledge of CMS platforms.
  • Working knowledge of how to leverage web analytics to optimize design.
  • Ability to analyze and learn rapidly changing technologies.
  • Must be familiar with providing general technical support to ecommerce business users as required.
  • Experience with leveraging frameworks­­­­ such as Foundation.
  • Experience in an interactive design role is a plus.
  • Understanding of The North Face brand and digital portfolio preferred.
  • Excitement for complex, challenging digital commerce projects.
  • Candidate should have proven experience in advanced development practices and techniques in digital commerce with emphasis on reliability, scalability and reuse.
