Job Summary
Summary of Responsibilities:
The St. Louis Cardinals are seeking candidates for a new Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach. Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coaches are directed to carry out the physical development, conditioning, and recovery interventions among other areas. These Coaches also work closely with the Minor League ATC to carry out the specific testing and performance programming for the Minor League players. In season, the Minor League S&C Coaches will report to the manager at each affiliate for their day to day operations and will be guided by the systematic process outlined by the Performance Department protocols.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Implement the Cardinals Performance program at affiliate location and during extended, if appropriate, and organize all in-season testing sessions between SC and ATC staff
- Communicate progress, issues, plans, etc. for each player to appropriate parties to ensure consistency
- Daily communication during season with the team manager and other uniform staff as appropriate along with close interaction with team ATC in order to ensure consistency with workload monitoring and programming
- Consistent communication with S&C Coordinator and Director of Performance as needed regarding progress and development of the strength and conditioning process and potential the affiliate location
Education and Experience Required:
- BA or BS in Sports Management, Sports Coaching, Sports Science, or related field; or combination of years of experience and education
- CSCS Certification
- 3-4+ years of experience working in strength and conditioning and the development of individual and team programs
- General knowledge of Microsoft Windows Suite
- Ability to navigate computers
- Strong work ethic and initiative, and good communication and organization skills
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Sports Management, Sports Coaching, Sports Science, or related field; or combination of years of experience and education
- CSCS Certification
- RSCC*D Designation
- 5+ years of experience working in strength and conditioning and the development of individual and team programs
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Suite
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent work ethic and initiative, and excellent communication and organization skills
