POSITION SUMMARY

In the last several years, The North Face has been on a journey to grow our Direct to Consumer business, with a focus on our Digital, Retail and Outlet channels.  In addition to being a major source of business growth for the brand, it is the most important consumer touchpoint.  It is our face to the world.

 

We are looking for an energetic, collaborative, creative leader to manage how we drive traffic to our stores, create amazing in-store and community events and present ourselves to the world.  The Retail Marketing Director is a high-profile, collaborative leadership position responsible for developing and executing world-class retail marketing strategies.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop retail marketing strategies to drive traffic and conversion at all points of distribution.
  • Thought-leadership organizationally on changing consumer trends and dynamics within retail.
  • Development of new leading-edge tactics to drive traffic and brand conversation
  • Manage and deploy a paid and earned media strategy and budget to build awareness of, and drive traffic to, stores
  • Design and implement a centrally-based community marketing platform and work with DTC partners to execute in key markets
  • Design and implement a seasonal catalogue business to drive revenue and brand equity
  • Build strategy and tactics to support new store openings.
  • Partner with Creative Services, Visual Merchandising and Brand Marketing to align programs to the GTM Process.
  • Partner with eComm to ensure that media spend is optimized
  • Maintain current knowledge of outdoor industry marketing activities.
  • Attend Sales Meetings, Trade Shows, and other brand events as necessary.
  • Create, manage, and track all applicable budgets to ensure on or under budget performance and all applicable project timelines to ensure on time, high quality deliverables.
  • Hire, train and develop team of direct reports.

 

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Marketing or related field.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Art and Design, Business, Retail Merchandising, or related field.
  • Extensive experience in retail Marketing
  • Experience in managing a diverse and creative group of individuals and leading change.
  • Outdoor equipment experience a plus.
  • Computer/Software Applications:  Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a track record in executing industry leading retail marketing initiatives while establishing procedures, implementing and executing processes.
  • Proven track record for successfully developing innovative retail marketing initiatives, traffic driving promotion procedures, implementing processes and getting things done on time.
  • Proven record in ROI tracking and applying learnings.
  • Highly organized and operationally minded.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications, teamwork, and presentation skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with consistent attention to details.
  • Excellent strategic, conceptual and decision making skills
  • Proficient writing and editing skills.
  • Travel required: 25%
