Network Engineer

American Airlines Center is one of the nation’s top arenas. Since openings its doors in 2001, American Airlines Center has been setting the precedent for sporting and live entertainment events. Bringing in a variety of big name shows and housing both the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars.

At American Airlines Center, we value our employees and what they bring to the company, but more importantly to the guest experience. We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT team.

The Network Engineer establishes and maintains network performance.

• Designs, implements, manages, and secures an IP network based on Windows platform
• Implements all VPN, mail servers, web servers, and database servers
• Manages and maintains all VLANS, switch, and firewall configurations
• Manages data backups and system disaster recovery
• Evaluates computer hardware and software products
• Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; managing and scheduling upgrades
• Serves as support and backup during events
• Maintains department documentation and reports network operational status
• Assists with Help Desk requests and troubleshooting
• Backs up the POS Manager for support during events; knowledge of POS systems
• Supports the PBX and VoIP systems
• Other projects assigned by the Director of IT

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 3 years of data networking experience with Windows servers, server hardware, Network Attached Storage, Cisco and Nortel router and switches (layer2 and 3), Nortel Connectivity, Nortel Passport, other firewalls and VPN;
• Web programming and SQL knowledge is a plus

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• Ability to walk and climb stairs;
• Ability to sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, crouch, stoop, crawl, and stand;
• Ability to perform physical duties of employment including, but not limited to lifting 40 lbs. while twisting and turning, working at heights and frequent climbing of stairs and ladders.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.
• Ability to respond on an immediate basis during normal business hours, after hours and on weekends via mobile phone is required/company phone allowance is provided as compensation for use of personal phone;
• Employees with this phone access requirement are not restricted in their movement, location, and activities during off hours when they are not at work.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule in support of events including evenings, weekends, and holidays
