Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation

Job Summary

Primary Responsibilities & Duties

• Supervise the Fitness Coordinator, and ensure fitness operations are meeting student needs in the area of holistic health and wellness.
• Work with external agencies to arrange facility rentals for athletic team practices and competitions.
• Coordinate the use of athletic facilities and respond to facility requests from internal and external entities.
• Work with coaches and other institutions to schedule intercollegiate athletic contests and maintain game contracts.
• Schedule event staff, game officials and athletic trainers for contests and special athletic events; directly supervise or assign a site supervisor for all home contests.
• Schedule table staff, mascot and staff DJ for special campus events.
• Assist in implementation of special department initiatives and projects.
• Oversee assessment of department initiatives via updating / creating assessment instruments, overseeing distribution and data collection, analyzing trends in data, and reporting findings to the department director.
• Nominate student-athletes for national, regional and institution level athletic and academic awards.
• Engage in continuous professional development to help department reach growth objectives.
• Collaborate with various campus departments and serve on committees as assigned.
