Athletics Communications Assistant For Broadcasting

Summary of Position

University is accepting applications for an Athletics Communications Assistant for Broadcasting. The Athletics Communications office is seeking a candidate with a strong audio/visual and sales background and experience producing and broadcasting athletics events in high definition at a professional-level quality.

This position will report to the Assistant Director of Communications for Athletics and will be responsible for hiring, training and scheduling a staff of student employees. Their responsibility will be for all areas of broadcasting (video production, creation of graphics, camera operators, event commentating, studio interviews, etc.) for all home athletics events, covering 24 varsity sports. This person will also be responsible for the care and maintenance of all broadcasting equipment, will be required to secure all athletics advertising contracts and corporate sponsorships and will support the Assistant Director of Communications for Athletics in other areas as needed.

The successful candidate should be reliable, a team player, able to multi-task, have strong communication skills and be able to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends included). 

Acceptable minimum level of education: Bachelor's

Acceptable minimum years of experience: 1 year

Other minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field
  • One year of directly related experience
  • Experience in digital design and web-based portal
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization
  • Technology skills as required by department.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous broadcasting and production experience
  • Knowledge of website maintenance and familiarity with Stretch Internet, Wirecast, TriCaster, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, etc.), and Adobe After Effects.
