Job Summary
Position Summary:
University Campus Recreation Athletic Trainer will facilitate athletic trainer services for the Campus Recreation Department, specifically Club Sports programs which require such coverage. This position will assist the Director of Campus Recreation and the Executive Director of Student Health and Wellness with health and wellness initiatives and oversite of Campus Recreation programs and facilities. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Athletic training services for Club Sports participants.
- Advise and assist the Executive Director of Student Health and Wellness and the Director of Campus Recreation with all emergency action plans, coordination of CPR certifications for professional staff and part-time student workers, wellness program planning, and facility upkeep.
- Assist with the supervision of the Center and intramural facilities, including assisting in the training and supervision of part-time student workers.
- Attends to injuries of club sports participants, arranges for medical treatment, assess the degree of injury, describes injuries and arranges for transportation to a medical facility, if necessary.
- Assists in determining training needs, demonstrates and monitors exercise programs, and prescribes exercises to individual needs.
- Ensures first aid liquids, ice, and other precautionary aids are available for use for Club Sports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required or applicable to the position responsibilities and area of specialization including special abilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field required.
- Must be certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) and possess or be eligible for athletic training licensure.
- Must possess college instructional experience in athletic injury assessment and treatment, and collegiate-level athletic training experience.
