Job Description:
Seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to join its team. Principle assignment will be teaching Kinesiology in the Division of Health Science and Athletics. Emphasis in program areas including athletics, fitness/wellness, health, first aid, exercise science and recreation. Responsibilities to include 15-16 lecture/lab hours teaching per semester, office hours, faculty meetings, student activities, preparation/research, committee assignments, program review and curriculum/instructional development. Secondary assignment will include service in intercollegiate athletics, which is an academic and co-curricular program. Individual hired will serve as intercollegiate head men's soccer coach under the direction of the division dean and director of kinesiology and athletics.
The position requires participation in a variety of campus and divisional activities (that is listed above). Selected candidates will be invited for an interview, which will include a teaching demonstration on an assigned topic.
Faculty job responsibilities include the development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving the College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercises or adaptive physical education; OR
- Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy; OR
- The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above;
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial, socio-economic, academic, and cultural diversity within student populations, including students with disabilities, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
- Valid California Drivers license.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience in coaching/mentoring students towards achieving transfer, academic success and skill attainment through a positive academic and athletic experience
- Certifications in First Aid, and CPR.
- Head coaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Relevant experience in soccer program management, development and recruitment.
- Experience with current eligibility regulations and student athlete transfer requirements of the, NCAA and NAIA.
- Experience examining and remediating one's instruction, interactions, and/or practices to more effectively engage and support diverse students.
- Demonstrated skill with addressing issues of equity.
- Demonstrated expertise in culturally responsive methodologies, particularly as it relates to students' lives, interests, and communities.
