Job Summary

Job Summary: The Assistant Coach will support the policies, guidelines, and rules of the athletic department and Southwestern campus. These tasks are to be performed in a manner to provide a quality program and encourage student athletes in both athletic and academic excellence. The Assistant Coaches primary duties are to have direct supervision over Graduate Assistant, Student Assistants, the Manager and student athletes. Also, the Assistant Coach will have consistent use of discretion and judgment when recruiting, scouting, and all areas concerning filming of games and practices. The Assistant Coach shall promote the campus environment of celebrating diversity in all forms.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Assisting with the coaching of the football team in a professional manner
• Supervising performance, mentoring and being a positive role model of student athletes and student assistants
• Designing drills and teaching student athletes for specific team needs 
• Coordinating recruiting and retention of student athletes to the football program
•  Monitoring the academic progress of student athletes
•  Completing the breakdown and exchange of game and practice films
•  Assisting in maintaining and balancing the departmental budget 
•  Cultivating a positive and professional relationship with boosters
•  Participating in community and professional organizations 
•  Notifying the Director or Human Resources of any potentially violations of safety procedures

Education and Experience

• Completion of a four year college degree or higher
• Experience in coaching football
