Assistant Director

Job Summary

Job Summary: The Assistant Director will report to the Associate Director for Outdoor Education and Student Development.  The candidate manages and supervises the Recreation Service's facility, programs, special events and personnel. The Assistant Director will provide a diverse array of programming that will attract participation from a broad spectrum of students. They will manage daily operations of the sports room and will be responsible for scheduling equipment maintenance. The Assistant Director works cooperatively with other departments, IT and student organizations on campus to facilitate activities.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management, computer science or other relevant field required
• Experience with strategic planning, budget management, equipment purchasing and maintenance and risk management
• Proficient computer skills

Job Responsibilities:

• Overseeing hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, payroll and evaluation of 20 student staff
• Ensuring appropriate staffing levels for all operating hours and events
• Directing, supervising, and evaluating recreational programming 
• Establish and enforce code of conduct for participants
• Managing proper maintenance of equipment and compliance with applicable State and County regulations
• Collecting data and conducting program assessment for all programming
