Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports and assists the head athletic trainer in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of the members of the academy. Assist in covering the academy teams’ practices, games and tournaments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Required to perform the job)
- Assist the head athletic trainer in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of injuries that occur to the academy teams.
- Assists Head Athletic trainer in the implementation of all programs associated with the academy teams.
- Assists the head athletic trainer in all record keeping associated with the academy teams.
- Reports to head athletic trainer and head team physician on all medical matters related to academy teams.
- Assists head athletic trainer in the supervision of ancillary personal of the sports medicine staff.
- Serves as the liaison between the head athletic trainer, first team sports medicine staff, reserve team sports medicine staff and academy teams
- May be called on to provide occasional athletic training services for first team and reserve team functions.
- Serves as the liaison between the head athletic trainer and other sports medicine staff for other visiting teams.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: - The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities
EDUCATION
- NATA certification required
- Bachelor’s degree in athletic training from a CAATE accredited program, master’s degree is preferred.
- State licensure or qualification to receive licensure.
EXPERIENCE
- This individual must demonstrate competency in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
- The individual must have knowledge and experience of the development of strengthening and rehabilitation programs for soccer related injuries.
- This individual must have knowledge of how diet and supplementation can effect healing and tissue recovery.
- This individual must have knowledge and experience in utilizing manual therapy techniques as well as other more traditional modalities in the treatment of athletic injuries.
- Must have good communication skills to be able to talk to parents about athlete’s injuries or rehabilitations and relay information from the athlete or parent to the coaches.
- This individual must have the ability to be open-minded, enthusiastic, and the ability to learn new sports medicine applications and demonstrate the ability to work within a team.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company.
