Job Summary

The Head Women’s Basketball Coach position is a 12-month, limited appointment working 75% time.

The head coach is responsible for organizing and directing of all operations of the women’s basketball program.

The position will include a separate 12-month, 25% fixed-term terminal athletics administrator appointment. The responsibilities of this supplemental position will be based on qualifications and experience.

An appropriate position description for the 25% supplemental position will be included in the offer for the 75% limited position. The 75% limited head coach position along with the 25% academic staff fixed-term terminal athletics administrator position will provide a 100% FTE for the hired candidate.

Responsibilities:

  •   25% Recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes
  • 20% Preparing athletes and teams for competition
  • 15% Practice organization
  • 5% Mentoring student-athletes/player evaluations
  • 5% Organizing, directing, and supervising a staff of assistant coaches
  •  Operating within allotted program budget/purchasing/fund raising
  •  5% Coordinating practice and event schedules
  •  5% Game management/Coordinating team travel to away events
  •  5% Promoting the athletic program, and attend Athletic Department staff meetings
  •  5% Directing the program within the guidelines of NCAA, Conference and Institutional rules and regulations
  • 5% Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• Competitive and/or Coaching Experience at the high school or collegiate level
• Experience recruiting and retaining a diverse group of successful student-athletes
• Strong commitment to the academic achievements of the student-athlete
• Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete character development
• Ability to communicate and organize with student-athletes within the rules and regulations
• Ability to work well within a diverse staff and environment
• Ability to set challenging goals and seek continuous improvement
• Ability to contribute to a positive work environment
• Ability to demonstrate leadership characteristics within athletics and throughout the university
