Job Summary

Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the Assistant Coach recruits, retains, supervises, and coaches student-athletes. With general policy guidance from the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will make decisions to successfully achieve department goals and objectives, and be accountable for the development of team policies and goals. The Assistant Coach will actively participate in practices and competitions, including, but not limited to, game preparation (including developing strategies and game plans), practice planning, skill and video sessions (including working individually with, advising, and critiquing student-athletes to develop and improve their skills), scouting opposing teams and players (including analyzing their strengths and weaknesses), scheduling, weight training and fitness programs.

                                               Job Responsibilities: 

• Organizing, preparing and conducting individual and team practices and training
• Developing effective drills and strategies for player improvement
• Monitoring strength, conditioning, and speed workout programs
• Creating and administering the off-season training program
• Collecting tactical and statistical data of opponent's teams, watch game tapes, make phone calls to other coaches for scouting reports
• Reviewing, digesting and analyzing data and evaluations to determine strengths and weaknesses of opposing teams and players
• Designing game plans and strategies, as well as workout programs, drills, and training routines to improve athletic performance
• Participating in coaches' preparatory meetings and implement strategies resulting from these meetings
• Evaluating individual student-athlete performance in both practice and competition; providing instruction in areas of deficiency
• Monitoring the conduct of student-athletes and assist in creating and monitoring team rules and policies
• Recruiting prospective student-athletes who meet appropriate academics
• Communicating with prospects (draft letters and emails and make phone calls), and coordinating on-campus and home visits of student-athletes
• Making recommendations with supporting documentation for athletics scholarships to the head coach

                                                     Qualifications: 

• Completion of a Bachelor's Degree
• Experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified
• Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the game of football
• Knowledge of athletics recruitment methods and techniques
• Ability to create a database for all prospects

                                                    Preferred Qualifications: 

• Current First Aid/ CPR certifications
