Job Summary

Job Summary: Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer and Director of Athletics, the Assistant Athletic Director will deliver medical services as part of a coordinated sports medicine team to student-athletes competing in 15 sports. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will model our Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of our higher education.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Communicating effectively with the Head Athletic Trainer on issues in the area of athletic training
• Providing status reports of student-athlete injuries to the coaching staff as needed
• Supervising safety factors of athletic competition by ensuring elimination of undue hazards
• Instructing student-athletes in rehabilitative requirements for proper healing of athletic injuries; keep a daily log of injuries and treatment given.
• Assisting the Head Athletic Trainer in coordinating physician weekly evaluations and coverage for the Conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association events
• Consulting with Coaches and student-athletes on strength and nutrition programs
• Operating therapeutic devices and equipment and recomending reconditioning procedures
• Managing the day to day operation of the athletic training room
• Helping manage an inventory system and supply budget for the department
• Representing the school favorably at meetings

Qualifications:

• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree
• master’s degree is preferred.
• NATA certification as an ATC
• Certified in first aid and CPR 
• Ability to evaluate therapeutic requirements for student-athletes, and to fit and modify therapeutic and/or protective equipment
• Skill in the use of first aid procedures
• Ability to design and implement fitness, nutrition and/or conditioning programs
• Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control
